This has been my Oreo ball recipe for many years. They are great for holidays, parties, get togethers, and even as a quick sweet treat! This recipe requires no baking!
These Oreo balls always get a lot of attention. My brother and his friends are often asking me to make these! This recipe is super simple yet yummy, meaning you can't go wrong with it. They are made up of only delicious things- Oreos, Cream Cheese, and Chocolate.
These Oreo balls are rich, chocolatey, with the perfect addition of cream cheese, that makes them melt in your mouth. It's crazy how something so little and simple to make is so delicious.
My favorite way to make these Oreo balls is by dipping them into white chocolate, but if you are more of a double chocolate kind of person then milk chocolate works too! You can even try this recipe with different types of Oreos! Around Christmas time I like to use mint Oreos!
Ingredients you need.
Oreos- I normally use original Oreos, but like I said above you can use any type you like! Double stuffed Oreos will make the balls a lot sweeter, so if you want less sweetness I would aim towards a regular Oreo.
Cream Cheese-My favorite part! Cream Cheese just makes everything better. Standard full fat cream cheese works best in this recipe, avoid using low fat cream cheese, it does not seem to set up right.
Chocolate- I use Nestle white chocolate chips, but any type of chocolate will work just fine!
Crushing the Oreos
I use a blender to crush my Oreos, but feel free to crush them by hand, or with a food processer! When it comes to mixing all the ingredients, I use a hand mixer, but again feel free to use your hands or a stand mixer!
Dipping tip
Be sure to put your Oreo balls into the fridge for 15 minutes, this makes them harden so that when you dip them into the melted chocolate they do not fall apart as easily! If you are in a hurry you can pop them into the freezer for 5-10 minutes before you dip them.
Want to decorate your Oreo balls?
There are many ways to dress up these sweet treats! You can crush up some Oreos and sprinkle them on top of the balls before they dry. You can use sprinkles, or you can drizzle melted chocolate over them, using a piping bag! They are even delicious just dipped into the chocolate.
How should Oreo balls be stored?
Since they contain cream cheese, you should keep your Oreo balls in an airtight container stored in the fridge. They can sit at room temperature up to 2 hours when being served.
You can also freeze your Oreo balls! They can be frozen in an airtight container up to 3 months. Just be sure to thaw them in the fridge before you eat them!
